Röyksopp & Robyn “Monument”
Robyn is the empress of electronia, I haven’t heard much by her that hasn’t hypnotised.
Few artists can wrap themselves in the full electronic universe and still sound fully emotional and human. When artists get it right, as she regularly does, there’s a connection so strong. The Knife do it really well, and in the US LCD Soundsystem could conjure up the same deep hearted melancholy.
This video inhabits the same visual space as her breakthrough hit “Every Heartbeat”, which if you remember was a glorious soundclash of Giorgio Morodor beats and Kate Bush heartbeats, with video of Tron style artificiality. This new song fells world weary but the video – three parts “2001, A Space Odyssey, two parts “The Matrix” is such a stunning video too.
